Filesystem upgrade on Fram from 2023-09-04 07:00 CEST to 2023-09-05 12:33 CEST

The maintenance went well and is now over. Jobs are running again, and the login nodes are open for users. Preliminary tests indicate that the metadata performance of the file system has been improved.

This maintenance is now starting as planned.

We are stopping backups from Fram in preparation for the upgrade on Monday. This is to allow all currently running processes to finish in time for the downtime. This means that no new data will be backed up this weekend.

We are going to upgrade the metadata controllers on Fram. This will involve taking down the filesystem. The work will take at least one day, maybe two. Afterwards we will hopefully see some improvements in the performance and reliability of the filesystem
